Shure BLX1 Wireless Bodypack Transmitter

The BLX1 is the bodypack transmitter used across Shure BLX and BLX-R series wireless microphone systems. Because it is sold as an individual component rather than a complete system, it is aimed at people expanding an existing BLX installation or replacing a failed transmitter.

A bodypack transmitter of this kind gives flexibility in installations that need to run different input types — headset, lavalier or instrument cable — through a single receiver family. In a training hall with both lavalier and headset users, for example, keeping several BLX1 units that work with the same receiver is a practical solution.

The point to watch when buying is that the BLX1 produces no audio on its own; it has to work alongside a receiver (BLX4, BLX4R or BLX88) and a compatible capsule or microphone. Anyone without an existing system is better served going straight to a ready-made package such as the BLX14, BLX188 or BLX1288.
