Shure BLX14/MX53 Wireless Bodypack System

The Shure BLX14/MX53 is a wireless system pairing a bodypack transmitter with the MX153 miniature earset microphone. Earset microphones work with a thin boom that runs behind the ear to the corner of the mouth, which makes them far less noticeable than a headset — close to invisible in use.

That discretion is a significant advantage for presenters appearing on camera, theatre performers and broadcasters, where the microphone must not clash with a stage costume or a television image. Its miniature construction also keeps it comfortable over long periods. Up to 14 hours of battery life covers a full shooting day or performance run.

For use built on heavy physical movement such as fitness, the more robust SM31 headset may be preferable; the MX53 is aimed more at professional broadcast and stage use where visibility has to be kept to a minimum.
