Product Description

Shure BLX2/B58 Wireless Handheld Transmitter

The BLX2/B58 puts the Beta 58A capsule into a wireless body. What separates it from its SM58 sibling is the polar pattern: the Beta 58A is supercardioid, meaning it picks up from a narrower angle and rejects sound from the sides more strongly.

That difference matters on stages where monitor wedges run loud and in acoustically difficult venues where feedback risk is high. The trade-off is that the microphone has to be held closer to the mouth and at the right angle.

Supercardioid pattern, higher feedback rejection

The tighter pattern noticeably reduces background noise and sound arriving from stage monitors. In venues running at high sound pressure you can push the microphone further; the system delivers more gain before feedback.

Lifted midrange, controlled proximity effect

The Beta 58A capsule is voiced to bring vocals forward, and its bass rolloff keeps the proximity effect in check so the sound does not turn muddy when the microphone is worked close. It is a common choice for live vocals and strong presenters.

The practical side of the BLX platform

Up to 14 hours on two AA batteries, up to 100 metres of range and automatic frequency selection via QuickScan are the same on this model. One-touch pairing keeps setup and microphone changes fast.

Applications

  • Live music and stage vocals
  • High-SPL event venues
  • Churches and places of worship
  • Conference and convention halls
  • Hotel ballroom events

Working with Koz Teknoloji

Choosing between the Beta 58A and the SM58 comes down to the acoustics of the venue and how the microphone is used. If your hall suffers from feedback, the supercardioid pattern makes a clear difference; if it does not, the SM58 is more forgiving of microphone technique.
